Jump In Summer Bookings Reported; August Up 19 Percent

Thinking about a summer getaway to your favorite mountain resorts? MTRiP, a company that tracks year-round lodging, says the summer season is looking strong. Better book your reservations.

In striking contrast to the low snow winter season, summer bookings are trending up strongly with “on-the-books” occupancy for May through October up 15.3. That compares to the same time last year with increased reservation activity in all six months.

Currently, MTRiP the most dramatic increase in summer on-the-books occupancy is for August arrivals with an 18.9 percent increase as of April 30.

“It was a challenging winter and one that most destinations are glad to put behind them but they are encouraged by the strong positive momentum from last summer carrying into this summer,” said MTRiP President Ralf Garrison.

Data is derived from a sample of 265 property management companies in 16 mountain destination communities, representing 24,000 rooms.
