It's 'Late Season' Party Time In Michigan's Boyne Country Into Early April
Spring's longer, warmer days bring out the fun side of northern Michigan’s Boyne Country. Boyne Mountain and Highlands and Nubs Nob, all grouped around Petoskey, mean fun events and sliding into early April.
Nubs Nob, one of northern Michigan's premier ski areas, is planning to stay open through April 5, and late season skiing and riding at the Nob is always a treat.
The late season discount period on lift tickets begins this week and lasts through the end of the season. For those coming from out of town, Spring Ski & Ride promotion begins March 23. Your lift tickets are included in your lodging rate when staying at one of the participating lodging properties in the Petoskey/Harbor Springs area. Rates start from $45.50 per person, per night, based on double occupancy.
Nubs throws out its version of Mardi Gras March 21. It's always a blast with fun and games for all. There's a costume contest, Crazy Couples contest, races, and don't miss the Soaker Cup Challenge; a real crowd pleaser. The Petoskey Steel Drum Band will be performing on the deck and Patrick Ryan in Nub’s Pub.
Krazy Daze kid's events include Silly Slalom, jump competition, face painting, and costume judging. For the adults the party kicks off Friday afternoon with live music in the Zoo Bar and in the Slopeside Lounge that evening. On Saturday there are GS races, an adult Silly Slalom, and, of course, a pond skimming event and more live music in the Zoo Bar with the Aaron Vaughn Band.
Krazy Daze weekend lift and lodging packages at the Highlands start from $252 per person, per weekend and includes lift tickets, breakfast Saturday and Sunday, ski or snowboard rental, tubing and entry to weekend events.
Carnival Weekend at Boyne Mountain pulls out all the stops with beads, bands, and costume competitions. Check out the on-hill party at Victor Warming House on Saturday. In addition there will be outside cookouts on the Stein Eriksen Patio and live music. The spectator friendly Slush Cup is Sunday.

The local county sheriff puts on extra road patrol for this weekend. You might want to consider spending the night, but don't wait long to book a reservation. Rooms fill quickly for this weekend. Charlevoix County Transit will be offering rides 9 a.m.—11 p.m. on Saturday.
