Heavy Snow, Winds Doom Wednesday Men's Super G At Worlds; USA's Bode Miller Back On DH Training Course

Prep for worlds at Beaver CreekThe cold front due to hit Colorado's central Rocky Mountain Range and the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships at Beaver Creek overnight came in later than forecast, giving race officials who were up on the mountain early in the morning some hope that today's race wouldn’t impacted by the weather. It was not to be.

Even though racers' and media inspections were confirmed, by 10 am heavy snowfall in conjunction with strong wind gusts didn't give race officials any other options but to postpone Wednesday's men's super-G race.

The FIS Emergency Committee re-set the men's super G race for Thursday, Feb. 5 at 11 a.m. (MT). The schedule change means the planned men's downhill training run has been cancelled and the women's downhill training run moved until later in the day.

Tuesday, the men got their first taste of World Championship action on the Birds of Prey Course as the first men’s downhill training was staged. The course is basically the same as that used for old Cups at Beaver Creek.

Kjetil Jansrud (NOR) topping the field with a time of 1:45:62. Jansrud already has three downhill World Cup victories, including this year’s World Cup race at Beaver Creek. Rounding out the top-three in training was Austria’s Max Franz, 0.08 off the pace, and his teammate Mathias Mayer an additional 0.20 behind.
