An on-mountain lunch break is a treat you’ll want to savor on your next ski trip, with easy access from the slopes, mountain views, and maybe even a deck for some springtime goggle-tanning. SnoCountry takes a look at some of the best bets for on-mountain lunch.

If you’re a carnivore at heart, Stratton’s Mountain Smoke will satisfy. Try the turkey brisket or any of the house-smoked barbecue from Vermont farm raised beef, chicken, turkey and pork, traditional sauces with a twist, house-made sides, beer brats and salads.

Loon Camp III

Harkening to its logging camp days, Loon’s Camp III serves up rustic items like venison stew and bison burgers, best paired with one of several craft beers on tap.

At Sugarbush, grab a Sip of Sunshine at Walt’s at The Glen House, a small mid-mountain bar where you’ll find all the locals enjoying a cold one and a gourmet grilled cheese, like the The Mountain Goat, with Vermont Creamery goat cheese, Cold Hollow Cider fig marmalade, caramelized onions, tomato and arugula.

For a mid-mountain break, Whiteface’s Boule’s Bistro on the lower level of the Midstation Lodge features butcher block specials, hearty soups, and stews that will keep you going for a great day on the mountain.

Snowshoe's Arbuckle's Cabin is the best place on the mountain to rest your legs after conquering the mile and a half long Cupp Run. Located at the bottom of Western Territory, Arbuckle's is accessible only to those willing to take on their most challenging steeps. It offers sandwiches, soups, beer and more.
