New and renovated restaurants, more snowmaking, and parking, and remodeled base areas top the list of work done over the summer at Utah resorts, as early-season snow means opening as expected for Utahans and visitors.

The last couple of seasons have seen a flurry of capital improvements at Utah resorts, as new owners and emerging season ticket partnerships bring more skiers and riders to the Beehive State and its renowned powder snow.

A half-dozen Utah mountains crank up their lifts around Thanksgiving, and here's what skiers and riders will find when they get there.

Atop Little Cottonwood Canyon, Alta has expanded its ski shop into the Albion base area. The famed Alf Engen Ski School will offer more performance ski camps this season. And, to help ease congestion, the independently owned resort has dedicated a full one-quarter of its Wildcat parking lot to carpoolers.

Just over the ridge at Snowbird, the Cliff Lodge has a new restaurant – SeventyOne, named after mountain's first year. At the base complex, a renovated lounge on the second floor of the tram base area – complete with charging stations and new restrooms.

In Big Cottonwood Canyon, Brighton opens with more snowmaking near the Milly Base area and a spiffed-up website ticket-purchasing portal. Next door, Solitude got more snowmaking, grooming equipment and a brush clean-up effort over the summer. A new walk-up waffle window debuts.

Park City Mountain debuts the only new chairlift put up in Utah this summer. The Over and Out fixed-grip quad is expected to solve circuitous access problems into Canyons Village by delivering skiers and 'boarders from the base of Tombstone chair to the top of Sunset chair just above the village. In the same area, the Tombstone BBQ food truck was made into an enclosed, permanent restaurant at the base of the lift.

And up north at Snowbasin, Earl's Lodge got major upgrades and the mountain now has more snowmaking in the Mt. Ogden Bowl area.
