We’ve been waiting for our snowmaking window here in the East, and it’s finally here. Skiers and riders can make plans now for first turns of the season at Sunday River, Wildcat, Mount Snow and Killington.

Sunday River has every intention of opening Saturday, November 11 at 8:00 a.m. Plans are weather dependent, but forecasts for western Maine show temperatures dipping into the 20s every night this week, which should provide the extended snowmaking window necessary to open upper T2 trail.

Lift tickets are expected to be $29 for all ages and available to purchase at the Barker Lodge.

“We can’t make any promises, but we’re optimistic,” Dana Bullen, resort president and general manager for Sunday River Resort, says. “Our snowmakers are dedicated to opening as early as possible each and every year. We’re coming out of the gate now with this news because we want to let our passholders and guests know so they can make plans.”

Sunday River plans to close midweek and then re-open seven days a week by mid-November and/or once the resort opens more skiable terrain.

Wildcat and Mount Snow will be opening for skiing and riding Saturday, November 11, marking one of the earliest openings for Wildcat in the past decade, and one of the earliest opening dates on record for Mount Snow.

“Wildcat has always been known for its early openings, and we’re thrilled to continue the tradition,” stated Brian Heon, general manager of Wildcat. “I can’t wait to welcome back everyone as we kick off our 60th season here at Wildcat.”

Wildcat began its snowmaking operations early Tuesday. Mount Snow will begin snowmaking operations on Wednesday morning, as they fire up their brand-new snowmaking system, thanks to $30 million in upgrades as part of the recently completed West Lake Water Project.

Carinthia Parks at Mount Snow also plans to open on Saturday morning with a full top-to-bottom terrain park.

Lift tickets will be available online and day-of with early season rates TBD as well as lift operating schedules for both resorts.
