A report by WLOS-TV ( says firefighters from Ebb’s Chapel and Mars Hill came up on the inferno at 1 a.m. The lodge was completely engulfed in flames and collapsed according to Deputy Fire Chief Will Willis.

Road and weather conditions made fighting the fire difficult as chains had to be placed on vehicles, the TV report says, the roads had to be salted before units could reach the site. It is expected to burn most of Wednesday but it is contained.
