Female Ski Clinics Taking Place Across Heartland

Several ski areas located near Midwest major cities are hosting female ski clinics over the next month. Enjoy that slope time even more with improved form and confidence.

Indiana’s Perfect North Slopes, near Cincinnati, is hosting women’s ski and snowboard clinics Jan. 11 and 13, and Feb. 7. The two-hour clinics are taught by female instructors in small, supportive classes. The cost of the clinic is $45.

The other Hoosier ski area Paoli Peaks, near Indianapolis, is hosting an all-day ski and snowboard clinic Saturday, Feb. 2, for women 18 and older. The cost is $75, which includes a lift ticket. Rentals, if you don’t have equipment, are $30.

Hidden Valley, near St. Louis, is hosting Ladies Park Session Jan. 9 and Feb. 9 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. The park is closed except for ladies wanting to build skills with professional instructors.

The three Vail owned Midwest ski areas—Afton Alps, near the Twin Cities; Wilmot Mountain, near Chicago; and Mt. Brighton, near Detroit—are hosting two-day Ski Girls Rock clinics throughout the winter. Led by female instructors they work on technique and building confidence through team work and individual effort.

Afton’s clinics are scheduled Feb. 17-18 and March 9-10. The camp is $199 and the special two-day lift ticket is $54. Wilmot’s clinics are Feb. 16-17 and 23-24. The cost is $160 and the weekend lift is $42. Mt. Brighton’s clinics, now for snowboarders as well, are slated Jan. 12-13, Feb. 9-10, and March 2-3. The cost is $175 for pass holders and $215 for non-pass holders.

Wild Mountain, near the Twin Cities, hosts Fabulous Fridays Jan. 11, 18, 25 and Feb. 8, 15 and 22. It’s a morning of skiing, snowboarding, instruction and camaraderie. The cost is $30 for the lesson and lunch, or register for all six sessions for $199.

Ohio’s Mad River Mountain, near Columbus and Dayton, hosts Snow Angels starting Jan. 6 every Sunday through Feb. 10 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Taught by female instructors the sessions are for all ski and ride ability levels. It’s $30 per session or $100 for all six sessions.

Boston Mills/Brandywine, near Cleveland and Akron, offers Women’s Snow Discovery, a six week lesson program that starts Jan. 8. Taught by women, the two-hour program is available on Tuesday and Wednesday. All ability levels are welcome, but must be 21+. The cost for the six lessons and lift ticket is $299. Rental equipment can be added for another $90.
