Both the Epic Pass and Ikon Pass streamline skiing and riding costs during the winter. Now that summer's here, they switch gears to make warm-weather times in the mountains more affordable, too.

After the pre-season purchase of a 2019-2020 Epic or Ikon pass, summertime at 20 ski and snowboard resorts in Colorado, Utah, California and Washington get cheaper. For 2019-2020 pass holders, scenic lift rides at both Epic and Ikon resorts are free.

After that, both passes offer discounts for other activities, lodging, and food throughout the summer. Here are some examples of how those deals break down around the West:

  • California. Visitors to Epic's Heavenly Valley get reduced-cost entrance to Epic Discovery's mid-mountain adventure park. Also in Tahoe area, Northstar mountain bikers get 20 percent off summer season pass, Epic pass holders cut 15 percent off bills at selected restaurants and Starbucks. Ikon pass holders receive a 20-percent discount on mountain biking at Big Bear and Mammoth.
  • Utah. All-day MTB passes at Deer Valley are half-off with Ikon Pass, while Solitude cuts biking cost by $5. At Epic's Park City Mountain, discounts abound for mountain biking, food and drink, and some lodging
  • Colorado. Epic Pass holders face a bonanza of savings at the Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone, and Crested Butte. Here's a sampling: Savings at both Epic Discovery parks at Breck and Vail; 20 percent off selected lodgings at all resorts; 15 percent savings at selected restaurants and Starbucks locations; and, golf discount at Keystone course. Ikon pass holders cut $40 offseason pass and a half-off day pass to Winter Park's Trestle Bike Park; half-off day pass at Snowmass' bike park; and, half-off scenic lift rides at both Aspen and Snowmass.
