Colorado Ski & Snowboard Expo Kick-Starts Season Nov. 7-9
The Colorado Ski & Snowboard Expo returns Nov. 7-9 to the Colorado Convention Center. Meet resort exhibitors, equipment manufacturers, and get a head start on the season at the ski and snowboard sale.
Perennial favorites include the Winter Park Kid’s Slope with its easy introduction to skiing, while the Burton Riglet Park offers the same kind of easy introduction to snowboarding. There are also the Skyriders! and their aerial antics, and the ELITETEAM Training Center that offers a timed obstacle course measuring basic fitness and flexibility skills.
New this year is the SnowSports Industries America (SIA) Nordic Village Interactive Zone that introduces participants to cross country skiing, ski jumping, and snowshoeing. No snow needed for this simulated experience, assisted by trained instructors and athletes.
Members of the U.S. Paralympic Ski Team will make appearances including several 2014 Paralympic medal winners. Skateboarding fans can visit the Woodward Copper Skate Park and test their skills on the Mini Ramp guided by Woodward staff members.
The Vail Valley Foundation will be on hand with event information for the Feb. 2015 Alpine World Championships. Their interactive ski machine, Sky Tech, lets visitors experience – simulated, of course – running the Birds of Prey and Raptor race courses. If you’d rather ‘ride’ than ski, try the mechanical bull.
Adults can enjoy a variety of micro and craft brews from MillerCoors in the Rocky Mountain Beer Garden, while listening to some local acoustic musicians.
The Expo is open Fri., Nov. 7 from 1-10 p.m./; Sat. from 10 a.m.-8 p.m., and Sun. from 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. Admission is $15 for adults or get a discount coupon in the Denver Post or at any Colorado Ski & Golf or Colorado Ski Sports store. Kids 12 and under are free. Discount tickets can be purchased in advance.
Or, get the new app in Google Play or Apple stores under “SkiShowExpos” that lets you purchase discounted tickets, get a coupon, find exhibitors, view an interactive floor plan, check feature schedules, and enter contests, among other highlights.
Be sure and stop by the SnoCountry.com booth to win ski vacation prizes and to register for SnoNews, our weekly newsletter.
