The Berkshire Mountain Club, a new resort hotel with luxury ski-in/ski-out vacation residences is set to break ground spring 2015 at the base of Catamount in the Berkshires. Opening is planned for mid-summer, 2016.
Located in the New York portion of the resort that straddles the Massachusetts/New York border, the development will be the first on-resort lodging option for guests of the ski area.
Catamount Vice President and Marketing Director Rich Edwards projects that the availability of slope side lodging will result in an increase in multi-day stays and use of the resort facilities year-round. “Many guests will choose slope side accommodations that allow a family to just walk down to the locker area, pick up skis and boots, and head right out to the slopes,” Edwards told SnoCountry.com.
Amenities will include a full service spa, restaurant, fitness center, a pool, concierge service, valet parking and personal storage. The Club will offer whole as well as fractional ownership in additional to traditional resort hotel stays. Owners will be able to put their property into an optional rental program.
Terry Elsemore of Fractional Strategies is working with Catamount on project design, sales and marketing, legal documentation, development planning and project management.
“Although Catamount may be a smaller resort, it is ideally located two hours north of Manhattan and Fairfield County, Conn.,” Elsemore toldSnoCountry.com. “Guests will find all the luxury amenities they are looking for without a long drive.”
“Young families will find Catamount to be a lot more maneuverable than some of the big mountains, now with the convenience of skiing right out of your door.”
Elsemore also noted Catamount is a partner in the project, and as it develops, they are going to be able to improve their infrastructure at the resort. “Like other ski areas with real estate, it generates revenue, which allows them to put in lifts, snowmaking and other updates. We’ll be an integral part of the growth plan."
Elsemore has been involved with the development of over 90 percent of all the existing fractional projects in New England today, including The Tamarack Club at Holiday Valley Resort, The Kaatskill Mountain Club at Hunter Mountain Resort, The Jackson Gore Inn at Okemo Mountain Resort, five Grand Summit Hotels throughout New England, and The Overlook Town Homes at Topnotch Resort & Spa.
Still in final permitting stages, units are not available for sale yet, but Elsemore said that they collected nearly 800 names last ski season of interested parties.
