Bretton Woods Resort Projects Update
New Hampshire’s Bretton Woods announced last summer the White Mountain resort would add a gondola and a new mountain top restaurant. While construction began in the autumn with the gondola base and upper terminal installations and the tower foundations, the early winter that kickstarted the ski season stalled the project.
The gondola cabins and towers have been delivered and are currently on the golf course near the Omni Mount Washington Resort along the Bretton Woods Nordic Center trails.
Bretton Woods’ Craig Clemmer commented that the early onset of winter this year had an impact but it is expected that the gondola project will be finished during the coming summer and it will be running soon after Thanksgiving. It is hopeful that the gondola will be open to the public along with the restaurant by the Christmas holidays.
According to Clemmer, the gondola will be the only eight-passenger gondola in the state and it will provide comfortable and protected access to the mountain-top facility. That access will also be quick as it is reported that the gondola ride will be about five minutes and egress will deliver people very close to the restaurant. When the new restaurant opens, the old Latitude 44 restaurant will be used for other purposes. The new facility will be available for lunch and special events.
