Skiers and riders at New Hampshire’s largest ski area will be taking to the slopes in a new eight-passenger gondola at Bretton Woods, landing at a new mountainside restaurant.
Plans are now in the works to debut the new gondola and an 11,000-square foot restaurant and event venue that will showcase the resort’s panoramic views of the White Mountains’ Presidential Range, the highest in the northeast.
Part of the Omni Mount Washington Resort and home of the grand Omni Mount Washington Hotel, Bretton Woods’ new on-mountain dining option will replace the current Latitude 44 restaurant. Early plans for the restaurant, skier services and event venue locate it above the current mountainside lodge, although the resort is still undertaking local and state approvals.
The gondola will replace the 1974-era B Lift double chair, and add to the resort’s growing year-round offerings, making mountainside access even easier for guests looking to celebrate a wedding or anniversary.
“This privately-funded project represents a major investment in the Bretton Woods ski area, and will be a highly anticipated new amenity for Omni guests and day visitors alike,” Omni Mount Washington Resort’s Craig Clemmer told SnoCountry.com.
“We look forward to sharing more details in an official announcement in the new year, in advance of the gondola’s 2018/19 ski season debut and the mountain-side restaurant’s summer 2019 opening,” Clemmer told us.
