Bode Miller 8th In Foggy Italian super G; Ligety Fails To Finish

Val Gardena World CupAmerican Bode Miller from Franconia, N.H. continued his comeback from injury with an eighth place finish in a foggy super G at Val Gardena, Italy. The fog created a warm blanket over the snow causing problems for many racers, including the USA’s Ted Ligety.

“The course is just so easy, everyone was pushing too hard,” Miller said. “I have no question about my confidence and my speed or anything.”

Norway’s Aksel Lund Svindal won the race for the third time since 2009, adding to his overall World Cup points lead. Twelve racers, including Ligety, failed to finish.

American Travis Ganong kept his racing moving along well, going from a 41st position start to finish 16th for his career-best super G finish.

The men take to the Saslong course again Saturday for a downhill. Steven Nyman of Sundance, Utah is the defending champion from last year on the course.
