Most Heartland ski areas and resorts are not planning on requiring reservations for daily access to the slopes, but are saying if you wait you may run into sold-out periods. Season pass holders will have priority access through reservations.

All of Vail's Midwest ski areas are now accepting reservations to ski and ride this season through December 7 for season pass holders. Lift tickets, for non-pass holders, can start being reserved on December 8. No ticket window sales this season. If you are interested in purchasing a lift ticket to ski the same day, you need to make the purchase online or by phone, and then go to the ticket window to pick it up; if tickets are even available.

That includes Ohio’s Alpine Valley, Boston Mills, Brandywine, Mad River Mountain; Missouri’s Hidden Valley, Snow Creek; Indiana’s Paoli Peaks; Minnesota’s Afton Alps; Michigan’s Mt. Brighton; and Wisconsin’s Wilmot Mountain.

Afton Alps plans on opening November 20, but early season will be reserved for season pass holders. Non-pass holders can start trying to purchase lift tickets after December 8. Wilmot Mountain and Mt. Brighton are looking at December 5 to open. All of the other ski areas are looking at mid-December to open.

The Epic Local Pass is currently $749. It allows you unrestricted skiing and riding at all the Midwest ski areas, and many of Vail’s popular western and eastern resorts. If you are interested in staying local at just the Heartland ski area of your choice there is a pass option to accommodate you. The Ohio ski areas have an Ohio Pass that allows you to ski at all four.

The Snow Creek and Paoli Peaks local passes are $329. The Ohio Pass is $359, Hidden Valley $389, Wilmot $449, Afton $499, and Brighton $559. Another good reason to secure a season pass, besides for slope access, is that a price increase is scheduled for November 22 on all Vail passes.
