Hunter Mountain is the closest major ski resort to New York City, and thanks to a $9 million expansion for the 2018-2019 season, skiers and riders have another great reason to take exit 20 on the New York State Thruway.
Five new trails, including three intermediate and two beginner, opened on Christmas Eve in the new Hunter North expansion. With a vertical drop just over 1000 feet spread over 43 skiable acres, the new development expanded the resort by approximately 25 percent.
Plus, with expanded snowmaking and Mother Nature delivering more snow this week and throughout the coming weekend, Hunter Mountain will be primed for skiing and riding. Plus, Hunter Mountain is also this week’s SnoCountry / Pepsi Resort of the week and they are offering skiers and riders savings of up to 40-percent off lift tickets and lodging packages when purchased online.
Also, Friday is national Learn to Ski and Snowboard Day and Hunter is offering new skiers and riders a $79 learn to package.
Toss in snow tubing too as Hunter Mountain is home to the largest snow tubing park in New York State! With tubing lanes, nearly 1,000 feet long, a snack bar, and fire pit - Hunter Mountain's snow tubing park is an adventure for all ages!
