The number of open ski resorts across North America triples this weekend with the opening of Colorado’s Copper Mountain and Keystone Resorts, Wild Mountain in Minnesota, Canada’s Lake Louise and California’s Boreal. 

 

Copper Mountain and Keystone open the slopes today with some outstanding early-season conditions following a series of snowstorms that rolled through the Colorado Rockies over the past few weeks.  Sunshine and highs in the 40s will great skiers and riders at both Colorado resorts for opening day before a return to winter with more snow in the forecast, according to meteorologist Joel Gratz with OpenSnow.com.

“Looks like it’s a good time to be a 9-5er Monday through Friday, because this weekend will be perfect to play in the mountains with one powder day (Saturday) and one sunny day (Sunday),” Gratz posted on his blog.

Opening Day at LovelandGEORGETOWN, CO. – Arapahoe Basin and Loveland ski areas waged a hard-fought battle, but in the end they lost out to Mother Nature, who dumped 36 inches of snow on Wolf Creek Ski Area last week in the Race to Open.
