Americans Lindsey Vonn, three other U.S. Ski Team downhillers, and freestyle star Hannah Kearney had great days in their respective sports Saturday.

UPDATE (2/19/12): Overnight snow and warm temperatures made the surface too unstable to host the third Audi FIS Alpine World Cup super combined. The race will not be rescheduled later in the season. Lindsey Vonn will be awarded the super combined title at World Cup Finals with a victory and a second in the two completed races. The World Cup tour now flies to Moscow for a night parallel slalom at the Luzhniki 1980 Olympic Complex.

CONTINUING SATURDAY STORY:  Vonn (Vail, Colo.) still has a month remaining in the Audi FIS Alpine World Cup tour, but she locked up her fifth straight downhill title with a third place finish on the site of the Olympic course at Rosa Khatur Resort in Russia.

“Downhill is my favorite event and it's always nice to wrap up a title before the end of the season, before the last races,” Vonn said. “It puts a little less pressure on me, but tomorrow is still going to be intense. I really want to win one here in Russia.” A super combined is set for Sunday, where she also has a points lead.

Julia Mancuso (Squaw Valley, Calif.) was sixth; Stacey Cook (Mammoth Mountain, CA) was ninth; and Alice McKennis (Glenwood Springs, Colo.) was 10th to place four American women in the Audi FIS Alpine World Cup downhill top 10 for the first time in history. T

The record setting team performance, which included all Americans finishing in the top 30, occured at Rosa Khutor Resort - alpine host of the 2014 Olympic Winter Games. The last time U.S. women place four in a World Cup top 10 was March 17, 1985 during a giant slalom in Waterville Valley, NH.

Cook said, “I've been fast in training runs this season and my downhill has been going really well, so I knew it was possible. It makes me really excited for the Olympics in two years. I kinda wish we could come back to Sochi next year. A couple of more runs down this hill wouldn't hurt.”

Meanwhile in Naeba, Japan, Olympic champion Hannah Kearney (Norwich, Vt.) continued her freestyle dominance her dominance Saturday, besting the field by 1.25 points. Kearney’s win extends her FIS World Cup record win streak to 16.

“This week was about enjoying skiing,” she said. “If I allow the pressure of continuing a streak or trying to beat the people who are trying to beat me, I ski more tensely. This week I tried to have fun and that is what I did.”
